Take the world‐famous Glacier Express to Zermatt. Enjoy some of the spectacular scenery Switzerland has to offer. Along the deep Rhone valley, the Glacier Express travels through an incredibly fascinating part of the Alps.

Take the Voralpen Express and journey to Eastern Switzerland and to St. Gallen, whose Abbey district is a UNESCO world heritage site. The train traverses the 99 metre high Sitter Viaduct and the rolling landscapes of the “Toggenburg”.

Start your journey in the lovely city of Lucerne. See the iconic Chapel Bridge, one of the oldest wooden footbridges in Europe, and enjoy a relaxing stroll along the sparkling Lake Lucerne. Join an exciting trip to Mount Rigi, known as the “Queen of the Mountains”. The Voralpen Express will then take you to St. Gallen, with a medieval charm, a compact metropolis set between Lake Constance and Appenzellerland. Discover its traffic-free old town, the monastery district and the Abbey Library, a UNESCO world heritage site.

Continue onto Chur, the pretty alpine town which have many relaxing views of mountains, streams and forests. Then take the Glacier Express to the car-free village of Zermatt which offers a rich variety of mountain romance 365 days a year. From the icy blue winter, to fresh turquoise in spring, to glistening summer and the glowing palette of autumn – Zermatt remains exceptional no matter the season.

Day 01 Lucerne

Independent travel to Lucerne.

Known as the gateway to central Switzerland. Lucerne is situated on the famous lake with its namesake and is embedded within an impressive mountainous panorama. Thanks to its attractions, its souvenirs and watch shops, the beautiful lakeside setting and the nearby mountains Lucerne remains one of the most popular places to visit in Switzerland.

Highlights of the city include the fully restored Chapel Bridge – one of Europe’s oldest wooden bridges and landmark of Lucerne.

Day 02 Lucerne-Mount Rigi-Lucerne

Breakfast at the hotel.

Self-guided xcursion to Mount Rigi, known as the "Queen of the Mountains". One of the most popular alpine excursions in Switzerland. The summit offers breath‐taking 360‐degree views over 13 lakes. A short cruise on Lake Lucerne will connect at Vitznau where you will board the cogwheel train that climbs to the summit. Return via cogwheel on the other side to Arth Goldau and onwards to Lucerne.

Day 03 Lucerne-St. Gallen

Day 04 St. Gallen-Chur

Independent travel by train to the capital of Graubunden and the oldest town in Switzerland. Chur has a history dating back 5,000 years. The historic Old Town is very much worth visiting and is completely car‐free. Enjoy the cultural and culinary amenities of this Alpine town!

Day 05 Chur-Zermatt

  • Gornergrat Self-guided Excursion:Self-guided Excursion. Gornergrat, one of the most famous and truly spectacular experiences combining a cogwheel train ride from Zermatt to an altitude of 3089m. An iconic view of the Matterhorn awaits, along with 29 other 4,000m peaks. There are several stops on the way which are starting points for various hiking and walking trails.
