In this tour, you’ll get the chance to see the famous Geysir and the geothermal area, Gullfoss the powerful waterfall, Thingvellir National Park in the Golden Circle.
On the second and third day, you’ll be taken to the South Coast. Along the shore, you’ll get to see the black sand beach, Reynisfjara, our stunning glacier lagoon Jökulsárlón in Vatnajökull National Park, where you’ll also get the change to explore Europe’s largest glacier. You also have the opportunity to add an optional tour to explore the mighty Dragon Glass Katla Ice Cave. During the winter, you will also get to explore the Blue Ice Cave and be facinated by the magnificent Northern Lights.
You will be picked-up from your hotel in Reykjavik and we will head to the Golden Circle of Iceland where our exciting day begins. The Golden Circle is Iceland’s most popular tourist attraction. It includes Þingvellir National Park, Geysir and Gullfoss. The first stop is Þingvellir National Park. Here, you can walk along the rift valley of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, all the while exploring an area which plays a huge role in Iceland's heritage; parliament was founded here in 930 AD, and it is also where Iceland converted to Christianity and declared its independence from Denmark. The geothermal valley of Haukadalur is the next stop, where you can see the geysers Strokkur and Geysir, amongst many bubbling hot springs. Strokkur puts on an unforgettable display every 10 minutes or so, erupting to heights that exceed 20 m (66 ft). Just a few kilometres away is Iceland's most popular attraction, the mighty waterfall of Gullfoss. A pathway takes you to the water's edge, where you can get a real sense of the incredible power of these enormous falls. From Gullfoss, those with a good sense of adventure can jump on an optional snowmobiling tour on Langjökull glacier. We will then head to the hotel to rest and prepare for an awesome day tomorrow.Spend the night on the south coast of Iceland/in Reykjavik.
Seljalandsfoss is a 60-metre tall waterfall and is accessible from all sides as there is a small cave behind the falling water where you can stop for a whole new viewpoint of the scenery. But bring a raincoat because you will get wet from the drizzle. Skógafoss waterfall is one of the biggest cascades in the country and according to legend, the first Viking settler in the south buried a great treasure in a cave behind the waterfall. If you are not afraid of heights, you can take the staircases which lead to the top of a hill where you can look down at this mighty waterfall. From there you'll stop at the black sands of Sólheimasandur where you’ll can leave the minibus and hop aboard another ride, a bike (at own cost). You'll cycle through this dark desert until you reach a wreckage of a plane that crashed here in the 70s. Don't worry, nobody got hurt in the crash. However, the wreck now serves as a great photographic location as the lone plane is surrounded by nothing but black sand. Of course if you do not wish to cycle, you can simply trek on the black sand to the wreck. Next, you’ll head to Reynisfjara beach, famous for iconic cliff formations and treacherous waves. With its high cliffs formed of basalt columns and volcanic rocks, smoothed by erosion, this beach is one of the most iconic places in Iceland. You will hear the thundering noise of waves crashing into the rocks as you look out to the spectacular Reynisdrangar rock formations, rising from the waters. We will then head to the hotel to rest and prepare for an awesome day tomorrow. Spend the night on the south coast of Iceland.
