Overview

This Alaska tour begins in Fairbanks in Alaska’s Interior Region and travels south on the Alaska Railroad from Fairbanks to Denali with a guided bus trip into Denali National Park before continuing by train to Anchorage. You’ll have ample opportunities to search for wildlife and a chance to get a close, panoramic view of Denali, North America’s tallest mountain. This rail journey through Alaska’s heartland takes place along one of the most scenic rail routes in the world.

Tour Plan

Day 01 Fairbanks

Arrive on your own and witness the beautiful city of Fairbanks. The rest of the day is free to settle into your hotel or start exploring on your own.

Overnight in Fairbanks at the SpringHill Suites or similar.

Day 02 Fairbanks-Denali

Transfer on your own to the Alaska Railroad station. Depart from Fairbanks at 8:15 am on the train to Denali, arriving at 12:10 pm. This afternoon, you may take time to see the Denali National Park Visitor Center, which offers many exhibits and information about the park.

Overnight in Denali at the Grande Denali Lodge or similar.

Day 03 Denali

Today, depart on a narrated bus tour into Denali National Park. As you travel through the pristine wilderness, look for wildlife, such as bears, caribou, and moose, as well as views of the Mountain. Your experienced driver or guide will provide commentary. The tour is approximately 4 to 6 hours long and takes you approximately 30 to 43 miles into the park, depending on weather and road conditions. Rest of day is at leisure.

Overnight in Denali at the Grande Denali Lodge or similar.

Day 04 Denali-Anchorage

This morning, embark on a Wilderness Adventure Jet Boat tour. Stand in the splendour of Denali and the great Alaska Range from a spectacular vantage point on the Susitna River! The folklore, artifacts and a panoramic view of Denali in the Alaska Range combine to make this an unforgettable and unique Alaskan river adventure. After your jet boat tour, drive the Parks Highway north to Denali National Park, passing by incredible forest and mountain landscapes. You’ll have as much time as you like to experience the majesty of Denali National Park, take in the sights of the George Parks Highway or arrive at your hotel near the park entrance to take advantage of an optional excursion or a visit to the Denali Visitor Centre.

Enjoy a leisurely morning on your own. Transfer to the rail station, depart at 12:30 pm and journey southward on the Alaska Railroad. Soak up the breathtaking scenery as you travel along the Alaska Range and Matanuska-Susitna Valley en route to Anchorage. Upon arrival in Anchorage at 8:00 pm, the transfer to your hotel is on your own.

Overnight in Anchorage at the Sheraton Anchorage Hotel or similar.

Day 05 Anchorage

You might have time to go sightseeing in Anchorage's stunning surroundings this morning. After check-out, transfer to the airport on your own for your departure flight.
