Tirana is the capital of the country and will surprise you with its neighbourhood of colourful oriental architecture and European buildings. The Turks who founded the city built mosques, baths, bakeries and shops at the crossroads of trade.
“Albanian Maldives” – the village of Xamil, will also delight tourists with beaches and inexpensive accommodation.
Durres and Vlora are the most popular resorts. Here, in addition to magnificent beaches and enchanting sunsets, you can walk to the Roman amphitheatre, mosque, go to the baths, visit the aqueduct, admire the bizarre mosaics. Here you can ride on catamarans and jet skis, and in the evening – dance on the beach party.
When it is better to go on holiday to Albania
Low humidity makes the thirty-degree heat in summer insensible, but the winter is wet and cool, although on the coast and in January it can be up to 20 °C. Summer for Albanians begins on the 14th of March. July is between 28-32 °C, January is around 8-10 °C.
The main season starts in May and lasts until October. It is almost always sunny, with rains in early spring and November. It is best to buy a tour from April to June, during this period it is warm, but not hot and without precipitation.
Mountain Albania is characterised by colder and snowy winters up to -20 °C. The off-season, from November to March, is characterised by rain and freezing wet weather, it will be chilly despite the almost constant plus temperature.
