Egyptian officials announced that after eight years, the transition from winter time to daylight saving time is once again planned. This significant event is to take place on the last day of April. The clocks will be shifted one hour ahead. Local media are warning locals and travelers alike about the time change. The Cabinet of Ministers explains that the decision was made to save electricity, due to the economic crisis in the country.
The time period for daylight saving time in Egypt will last from the last Friday in April until the last Thursday in October. The hands of the clock will be moved exactly one hour ahead. Egypt will use GMT+2 (+2 hours from Greenwich Mean Time) while summer time will be GMT+3 to correspond to Moscow time, which will be more convenient for travelers from the Russian Federation.
The shift from winter to summer time has not been implemented since 2016. Now this is a forced measure due to the economic crisis will increase the daylight saving power for one hour.
