The Goa government has issued a directive for travelers to regulate their behavior in the country.
– The directive urges travelers not to hire illegal drivers engaged in private transportation, as their cars are not equipped with meters, resulting in inflated fare prices;
– It is suggested that only official hotels and lodging houses that are registered with the Department of Tourism should be booked for vacation accommodation, as hiring accommodation from unregistered private drivers can pose a variety of problems;
– River cruises, entertainment on the beach, water rides on auto and moto transport is also better to make only official working and having a permit for these types of services firms.
Travellers are once again reminded that they have to observe a number of rules. It is forbidden in Goa:
- drinking alcoholic beverages on beaches and in public places, it can be done only in specially licensed premises such as hotels, restaurants, beach huts;
- cooking in outdoor areas (picnicking in nature is not welcome);
- damaging and destroying cultural sites, by graffiti or in any other way;
- taking selfies in life-threatening places (sea cliffs), as well as taking pictures of other people without their permission.
Violating these rules can result in a hefty fine or a conflict.
